In five years, Emergences has become a major rendez-vous of electronic cultures and new art forms in Europe. Famous for being a talents discoverer, the festival proposes once again an original, international and multi-disciplinary programme.
Emergences returns to its headquarters at the Maison de La Villette with a lot of festive surprises: two exceptional evenings of performances, concerts, installations and other eccentric shows, followed by two electro nights joining together the best of the European electro scene.
This year again, the festival develops arty ties with its partner of Strasbourg, the “Les Nuits Electroniques de l’Ososphère” festival, which takes place over the same period: simultaneously programme network creations and performances, digital experiments, live retransmissions and ephemeral radio broadcasted during both events.
This edition is also dedicated to the launch of a new thematic, SmartCity, which broadens the festival’s investigation field to new forms of art creation in urban space: art in context, urban guerrilla art, interactive city, new architectures and urban landscapes, mobile art, urban game art, new urban cultures and other forms of criticism and artistic city’s appropriation.
Far from a simple urban event, the issue is to initiate a real artistic work in progress for reflection, creation and intervention on Smart City (on possibilities given by new technological innovations, but also on balanced and sustainable development).
The SmartCity first step is an international conference organized at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, leading to the development of an important project associating several European cities.
In total, more than 30 artists participate in this 5th edition.
